A Small Contribution for Big Impact

Fostering Ownership and Sustainability

At The Sanctuary @DWA, we believe that everyone deserves a safe, dignified place to call home. While we do not turn anyone away based on their ability to pay, we ask for a small, nominal fee from those staying with us. This contribution is not just about covering costs; it’s about cultivating a sense of ownership, responsibility, and commitment to their own journey of rebuilding. It helps our guests feel empowered as active participants in their transformation, rather than passive recipients of aid.

In addition, this fee helps us keep the lights on, so to speak, as we rely on donations to sustain our programs. It allows us to continue providing a safe haven, support services, and the resources our guests need to thrive. We deeply appreciate every individual who chooses to stay with us, and our goal is to help them succeed in their new community, with dignity and independence.

Key Considerations:

Fostering Ownership and Commitment

  • By contributing a small fee, our guests are more engaged in their own recovery and success.
  • It promotes responsibility and a sense of pride in their journey.

Building Independence & Confidence

  • The nominal fee encourages financial literacy and self-sufficiency, helping women gain confidence in managing their resources as they transition.

Not Encouraging Entitlement

  • We believe that help should empower, not enable dependency.  This fee helps our guests feel valued and actively involved in their own future.

Maintaining a Sustainable Sanctuary

  • The small fee supports the operational costs of running a safe and welcoming space.
  • It helps us provide essential services, including meals, housing and professional counseling.

Supporting Our Mission

  • Donations and the small fee allow us to keep doors open and continue offering support without compromising the quality of our programs.

Monthly Housing Contribution

While we strive to keep our fees as low as possible, the nominal charge for housing helps us maintain a safe, supportive environment. The monthly contribution for housing we ask is $300-$450.

This amount covers basic housing, utilities, and essential living costs. We understand that financial constraints can be challenging, and if someone is unable to pay, we will not deny them a place at The Sanctuary @DWA.

Note of Gratitude!

In all things, we give thanks. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

We are grateful for the support of our donors, who make it possible for us to provide a safe and nurturing space for those in need. Your contributions—whether through donations or the modest housing fee—help us continue this vital work and empower the women we serve to build new, independent lives. Thank you for standing with us in our mission to restore hope and dignity.
